Meet Travis

Twenty four years in these neighbourhoods

Travis Restoule has lived in Ward 4 for 24 years. He and his wife raised their two children here, and built their life around the same streets, businesses and neighbours he is now asking to represent.

He brings 29 years of corporate leadership, including managing supply chain fulfillment from national operations down to local community needs. He has also operated a local grocery store. Both taught him the same thing: responsible financial management, and practical decisions that hold up for the people living with the results.

He showed up when it counted

When the pandemic shut down local restaurants, Travis co-founded "We Are All in This Together," a grassroots initiative that raised more than $200,000 to keep those businesses connected to their customers through the worst of it. He has donated bicycles to Big Brothers Big Sisters and supported community efforts across the region.

Community leadership starts with being present and willing to help. He has been doing it for years without a title.

Why he is running

Ward 4 is ready for new energy at City Hall. Travis has personally visited thousands of homes across the ward, and heard the same thing at door after door: residents want a councillor who responds, follows through, and makes sure their voice is in the room before the decision is made.

In February 2025, Travis received the King Charles III Coronation Medal, a national honour marking the Coronation of King Charles III. The citation recognizes significant contributions to Canada and specifically to the Region of Waterloo. Nominations were made by invited partner organizations only. You cannot apply for it, and you cannot nominate yourself.

My priorities for Ward 4

Taxes residents can live with

Your tax bill has risen nearly 27% compounded in four years. That pace is not sustainable. I will scrutinize spending line by line, cut waste, and protect the essential services people actually use.

Growth that respects the neighbourhood

Waterloo needs more housing, including genuinely affordable housing. It also needs roads, water capacity, parking and traffic to be part of the conversation before zoning changes, not after.

Decisions explained, not announced

I will tell you why I voted the way I did, communicate regularly, and make sure you can see where your tax dollars go. Visible and reachable for the whole term, not just the eight weeks before a vote.

Well-maintained roads, sidewalks and trails, with real action on speeding and safer crossings for drivers, cyclists and people on foot.

Effective emergency services, safer public spaces, and practical partnerships with the Region on homelessness, addictions and community wellbeing.

Local business with a voice

Fewer unnecessary barriers, stronger commercial areas, and small businesses actually at the table at City Hall.

It's time for answers

Transparency. Accountability. Respect for Ward 4.

I support housing. I support affordable housing. And I understand that Waterloo needs to grow.

But growth cannot come at the expense of transparency, accountability, responsible planning, and the voices of the people who already call these neighbourhoods home.

The bigger question is not whether we need more housing. Of course we do. It is how we got to a point where residents are worried that major changes could happen in their neighbourhoods without feeling they were properly heard or fully informed.

Questions residents deserve answered

What will this mean for traffic?
What will it mean for parking?
Can our roads, water and sewer infrastructure handle additional density?
What will it mean for the families living beside these properties?
Will this actually create the affordable housing residents have been told Waterloo needs?

My position

I support responsible housing development
I do not support blanket rezoning without proper planning and transparency
Residents must be heard before Ward 4 neighbourhoods are permanently changed
We need the facts, full impact studies, and real community input first

Residents should never feel like City Hall has already made up its mind before they walk into the room. Ward 4 deserves a councillor who will ask the difficult questions.
